Illusion Conceptual Art Piece: Objective: Students will create a Borondo inspired digital piece that conveys an opinion or belief through a visual form on a public area using color, form, shape, text, and composition.
Examples of Borondo's work:
Source of inspiration for this project comes from a local street artist Borondo in Madrid, Spain. Spain is one of the countries being offered on the Europe trip (hint, hint). His work can be found on bus stop signs, train stations, windows, and random and unexpected places within the city. He uses paint to create his images, with the use of minimal color. This art is placed in public areas.
Step one: Research project.
First watch the prezi, videos and look at the websites below.
Then answer the following questions. Place answers on your personal wiki, under a new page titled "Illusion Conceptual Piece."
Tools to use: Opacity, Clone Stamp, Hue/Saturation, Paint brushes, Text Tool, and filters. Step Two: Requirements
For you, you are going to be using Photoshop to create a similar piece to Borondo's work. Instead of actually going out and painting an image on a public area, you are going to create this illusion using Photoshop.
1. Your art needs to be placed on a particular spot in Denver or at GW. You have to take the photo of this place, not use images off the internet. You need to use TWO PLACES. This place has to mean something to you. (Hint...is there anything from the previous project to help you with this?)
2. The art placed on this public space has to be created originally by you, conveying a belief and opinion. You can use drawings, photos of friends as models, yourself...however the work has to mean something important to you. Key word: Conceptual Art. Think about what is Borondo doing? Why is his making these kind of images? How can you reflect an idea or message through your work?
1. What is the main idea from this piece?
2. Why do you think the artist placed their work in these areas?
3. If you could improve this piece, what would you do?
Deadline for Final Piece: October 16th or 17th (block days)
